Front Yard / Garden

Before:  My little house in Bothell.  Very cute, but a bit dated in many ways.  The garden was lovely when I moved in, but was poorly laid out and poorly planned and proved very difficult to maintain.  Over the years it became more than I could manage so I eventually let it go completely.  Here are some before and after shots:

The front (new paint!)

The Back (new paint).  I have since also had an irrigation company come and install a sprinkler system, so the yard is looking a bit dug up, but will make re-landscaping go a lot better...

New paint, with old, wild, crazy overgrown garden.  This is early winter, so most of the chaos has died back... this actually looks "good"
Weeding was my life... it was a full time job just to keep it looking like this...
With even the smallest amount of neglect it quickly devolved into this....
And then I gave up...

the lovely gentlemen are my housemate David and his business partner Jamie, they just happen to be very talented landscapers with their own company (can I hear an "Amen"?)

Jamie and David in the yard before the "BIG DIG".  That is Sierra's head at the bottom of the picture.  She served as chief supervisor for the project...
BIG DIG:  Phase one

David and Jamie and the crew take out as much as they can

BIG DIG:  Phase 2

Big Trees comes and takes away most of our mature and lovely but terribly over crowded specimine dwarf trees.

The pictures I took of the tree removal are MIA (unfortunate because it was cool (and sad) to see them all loaded up on a big tractor trailer and get hauled away.  The yard was full of craters, it looked like Smallville for a little while...

Here's what it looks like at the moment:

Amazing eh?  Actually looks like someone lives here...

  maybe even a respectable person...

The funny thing is that we thought we got all the crocuses....
